Welcome to Yadda Yadda ... the Stevens & Stevens Deli Newsletter
Volume 3, Issue 8                           All the News that's Fit to Eat! AUGUST 2008

Mark Stevens Perhaps I misspoke in the July newsletter about the weather. So far, we have had a nice summer and been spared the extensive periods of heat and humidity that is so typical around here. Keep your fingers crossed.

August is always a special month for me personally as it is my birth month. Being a Leo is hard work. Couple my Leo's drive and ambition with the discovery that, at 46 years of age, I am ADHD, and you have a real handful! After all these years, I have finally unearthed the root of all my insanity. Trust me when I tell you that the combination of being a classic Leo and having a dead left frontal lobe can be exhausting.

The good news is that this combination produces a tremendous work ethic, and a focus that yields some pretty good stuff. The problem for friends and family is just trying to find the right switch to turn me on and off at the right times.

The Deli and its customers are the beneficiaries of my madness. You know I care. You know that I am committed to your experience. And you know that I will always try to give you the very best I have to give. As for the Deli's employees, let's just say that they've learned to check the windsock.

What's in a name?

Mark's Special

If you've really looked at our menu, you've noticed that every menu item has a name, and every name has a story behind it. When Susan and I first planned on opening a deli 18 years ago, we conducted our due diligence by traveling far and wide visiting the best delis in the country. Of course, the cornerstone of any great deli is corned beef and pastrami. Every deli we visited had their version of the house special — a massive corned beef and pastrami sandwich that was for the true deli connoisseur. Thus was born the Mark's Special. If I was going to put my name on the door, and stand behind what I served, then it was going to have to be our signature sandwich.
